Birmingham City v Arsenal Preview

This weekend we play Birmingham at St Andrews, one of the harder places to go in the Premier League this season.

Alex Mcleish's men have been the suprise package this season, as they sit 7 points off a Europa League place in 9th, this is mainly down to their terrific home record this season, consisting of draws with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, so quite clearly this won't be a stroll in the park for Wenger and Co, and I don't think they will think that either.

Doubt

There is a doubt for Nicklas Bendtner for this game, after he twisted his ankle against West Ham last weekend, therefore they're might be a starting place for Eduardo. It'll be the first time Arsenal have been back at St Andrews since that horrific injury to Eduardo, that all but ended Arsenal's title challenge in the 07/08 season.

If the Croatian does start, let's hope he can put the demons behind him from that fateful day, and get back to his normal self.

Suspension

Thomas Vermaelen is suspended for this game after his dubious red card against West Ham when he supposedly brought down Franco (Which clearly didn't happen) and the FA rejected our appeal on Tuesday afternoon.

Team Prediction

Almunia
Sagna Campbell Song Clichy
Fabregas Denilson Diaby
Walcott Eduardo Rosicky

Sub: Fabianski, Eboue, Arshavin, Silvestre, Eastmond, Nasri, Bendtner (If not fully fit)

  2. i think sylvestre and song should be able to stop birmingham attacks... they are just good defensively and thats why they are hard to beat... attacking wise, they shouldnt cause that much problem. our attack just need to work hard to break apart their defence and i think this is where walcott is needed most...up guuners!!!!!!!!!!
